( The comments that follow may make more sense if you are familiar with the biographical sketch in my homepage - Aftermath )
This page began as a response to requests from pen-pals asking what I found interesting enough for me to revisit. It is a part of a bookmark file I began when I first began cruising around the internet sites. Almost everything intrigued me. (Citation in this list, by the way, is not to be taken as a commercial endorsement, please). Since I first published this, I have had suggestions mailed in and I also earmarked (bookmarked-?) a some other "useful" sites, such as those where fun pages and neat downloads are ... ...

First of all .... Are you a surfer? Click here for Virtual Sites - a Web Surfer's Guide of over 300 pages pointing towards 10,000 Selected sites. The focus is on content to provide information to enhance journeys on the Internet. Other unusual pages developed by Duane Bristow and wife (I do not know them except from their homepage ) can provides hours of interesting browsing WWW -- Surfing the Net with Duane.

A recent discovery, very good for parents with young children and for adults new to the Internet, is the website of the American Library Association, especially its Guide to Cyberspace . And another worthwhile site is ICYouSee: T is for Thinking.. a thoughtful guide to critical thinking about the WW Web, from Ithaca College Library. I recommend this page for the serious researcher using the WWW.
Graham Toal has a very informative page on SPAM. While not the official page for TISPA (Texas Internet Service Providers Association), it contains much information for the service provider and for the Internet surfer.

I have to thank the many, many penpals who have written me with citations of their own. From these discoveries, as well as some of my own, I have assembled a second list. I have taken advantage of this revision to place newly added items onto another page, Favorites II. Please click to join in these discoveries ...

  • I supposed it's due to having studied History and Latin for 3 years in high school and for 2 more at CCNY that I have maintained an interest in things ancient and "classical" including mythical and philosophical .(see reference above to Julia Hayden's website). Works of many of the classical authors are readily found on the WWW at university sites. Here are a few: Odes of Horace , and his Epodes , the poems of Catullus , Caesar's Gallic Wars , and De Bello Catilinario of Sallust.
